The Feast is an ongoing project that aims to create conversation about the diversity that exists amongst American Indian tribes. For the project, participants are invited to eat traditional Indigenous foods on plates and placemats featuring a single tribal community. During the meal, participants can share with those around them, collectively learning about tribes they may or may not have heard of before. There are 573+ federally recognized tribes in the United States today with their own distinct traditions, beliefs, and customs, but in popular culture, we tend to see the same representations over and over. The goal of this project is to shine light on each tribe individually. To do so, place settings are produced alphabetically from a list of tribes.

The event at Minnetrista in Muncie, Indiana will feature Tribal Nations that start with the letters J, K, L, and M. The Feast changes each time it is presented. For the Muncie Feast, QR Codes will be utilized for the first time. Smartphone usage will be encouraged to research and share photos, traditions, dress, art, culture, histories, and contemporary enterprises of the respective tribes.

Menu featuring foods by Native-owned companies:
Red Lake Nation Wild Rice Pilaf (Ojibwe)
Tatanka Buffalo Jerky (Lakota)
3 Sisters Mash
Red Corn Fry Bread (Osage)
Ioway Bee Farm Honey (Ioway)
Bedré Chocolate Coffee (Chickasaw)
Yanabah Navajo Tea (Diné)

Participation in The Feast is offered to invited guests free of charge. Space is limited to 40 guests. If you plan to join us, please RSVP through eventbrite for each guest. RSVPs will be accepted until the 40 available place settings are reserved. The evening will begin with a short presentation by the artist.
